This site is on the north side of Upper Sunbury Road, to the west of Hampton Care Home and south of St Marys Hampton School.
About the meadow
Oldfield Meadow Wildlife Site once formed part of the adjacent school grounds. Since coming back under our responsibility, it has been managed for biodiversity, with the planting of new native hedgerows and the establishment of a wildflower meadow which is maintained with a hay cut. Other features of note on this site include the mature beech, sweet chestnut and London plane trees on the northern boundary.
In July 2026, Oldfield Meadow Wildlife Site was formally opened to the public with the help of pupils from St Marys Hampton Church of England Primary School. It will primarily be maintained as grassland, with additional ecological enhancements such as stag beetle loggeries, bee banks and boundary tree planting added over time with the help of the local community. Current access is provided in the form of mown grass paths as plans for a formal permeable footpath are being developed.
