Safer Neighbourhood Board

The Richmond Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB) was established in April 2014 and replaced the former Community and Police Partnership.

Role

The role of the Richmond Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB) is to bring together the police and communities to establish local policing and crime priorities, make sure the public is involved in community safety decisions, monitor police performance and confidence, and to fulfil a range of important specific functions.

It delivers a number of projects each year to assist in crime prevention, and encourage dialogue between the police and hard-to-reach or vulnerable groups.

Applications to join

The SNB has a diverse membership, and the chair is always interested in applications, with a nominator and seconder, for new members. The SNB also welcomes participation from local groups and organisations that represent a significant number of people, and which take an active interest in policing matters. We are particularly interested in identifying representatives from interfaith groups and young people, Neighbourhood Watch, and those who can represent the LGBTQ+ community.

If you feel you represent a particular community or organisation which would benefit from membership, please do apply, and we will give every application serious consideration.

Up to four councillors are nominated to sit on the SNB.

If you are interested in your organisation, or you, becoming a member, please email richmondsnbchair@gmail.com for further information.

Public meetings

Richmond Safer Neighbourhood Board holds public meetings to discuss all aspects of community safety within the borough, and acts as an umbrella body for the 18 Police Liaison Groups (PLGs). There is one PLG for each ward.

Members of the public are welcome to attend SNB meetings, which are held every quarter at York House, Twickenham TW1 3AA. There are opportunities to ask questions, including to police representatives about crime and policing issues.

Twickenham Station is five minutes by walking from York House, which is also served by the 33, 110, 267, 281, 290, 490, H22, R68 and R70 bus routes.

Upcoming meetings

The next public meeting is on Thursday 9 July 2026.
