South Asian Heritage Month: uniting through culture, creativity and community

This South Asian Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the theme of Unity in Diversity by reflecting on the powerful stories of identity, culture, resilience and belonging that shape our communities and continue to enrich the society we share today. 

Taking place throughout July, South Asian Heritage Month is a time to recognise the rich and diverse contributions of South Asian communities and encourage cultural exchange, shared understanding and connection across the borough.

This South Asian Heritage Month, our libraries are showcasing a selection of fiction, memoirs, thrillers, children's adventures and cultural commentaries that explore the stories, voices, and contributions of the South Asian community. You can also explore the collections online:

Dance workshops 

As part of this year’s High Tide Festival, our Arts team is hosting free dance workshops celebrating South Asian heritage, culture and storytelling. Join this joyful, hands-on introduction to the vibrant world of South Asian classical music and dance for children and families!
