Richmond residents now get £600 off solar panels and batteries

6 July 2026

Richmond residents can now save £600 on solar panel and battery installations through our partnership with MakeMyHouseGreen. The discount has increased from £500 to £600 per installation.

Solar panels can help households generate their own electricity, reduce reliance on the grid and lower energy bills. Richmond residents with solar and battery systems can save around £1,000 on their annual energy costs.

Find out your home’s solar potential

Residents can use MakeMyHouseGreen’s free online calculator to check whether solar panels are suitable for their home and then estimate potential costs and savings.

While south-facing roofs typically generate the most electricity, east and west-facing roofs can also work well. Most roof types, including flat roofs, are also suitable for solar installations. In most cases, systems can be installed and operational within six to eight weeks.

MakeMyHouseGreen can manage the process from initial assessment and system design to installation and certification. Their team members work closely with us on home installations in conservation areas, where solar panels may often be installed under permitted development rights.

Free webinar - ask the experts

To help residents explore their options, we are hosting a free webinar on Wednesday 15 July, where experts from MakeMyHouseGreen and retrofit planning experts Ecofurb will answer questions about solar panels, batteries and wider home energy improvements. Residents will be able to learn about costs, savings, planning considerations, choosing trusted installers and taking a whole-house approach to retrofit.

Solar Q&A on the Smarter Home Hub

We offer the solar scheme through our Smarter Homes programme, which gives residents practical advice on home energy improvements, planning requirements and funding opportunities. The Smarter Homes Hub includes case studies, guides and a growing collection of blog posts. Recent posts include a question-and-answer series with MakeMyHouseGreen.

Residents can register for the free webinar and visit the Smarter Homes Hub for trusted advice on solar panels, batteries and other home energy improvements.
